Beauty Inspired, Values Driven: Estée Lauder's Commitment to always Do More

Oct. 4, 2021 | by Tania Amardeil

The Estée Lauder Companies has always understood the importance of embedding social impact across the company. “As a Beauty Inspired, Values Driven company, our values aren’t just in our words, but also in how we act,” says Eric Douilhet, General Manager (Canada) at Estée Lauder. “It’s a fundamental part of who we are.”

Living by its values has driven the company to align itself with many noble initiatives over the years, committing to have a positive impact on its employees, its communities, and the planet. One of these commitments has been to Look Good Feel Better (LGFB). Estée Lauder has proudly been supporting LGFB since its inception in 1989 in the U.S., and from its expansion into Canada in 1992. In other words, The Estée Lauder Companies has been on board with LGFB since day one.

Uniting beauty companies for a common cause

“The Estée Lauder Companies has and continues to contribute in many arenas such as product donations, charitable initiatives, and employee volunteer support to LGFB’s incredible work providing support, resources, and beauty techniques to female cancer patients to help them look and feel their best during treatment,” says Douilhet. “It’s inspiring that this partnership has grown into a global program, one that we now support in Canada and many other markets in the communities in which we live and work.”

Douilhet also notes the power of different beauty companies uniting together for a common cause. LGFB’s goal of supporting women with cancer and feeling beautiful and confident is one that many cosmetic brands believe in.

A commitment that aligns with Estée Lauder’s corporate culture

Estée Lauder’s partnership with LGFB is a perfect fit as giving back, being of service, and doing community work are all in the company’s DNA.

Inspired by our founder Mrs. Estée Lauder’s belief that we’re only as strong as the communities we work in, our company culture of giving and strong commitment to service remains core to our Lauder Family values, which continue to guide us today,” says Douilhet. “Through our social impact initiatives such as our partnership with LGFB, we unleash our collective generosity of spirit to continue to bring the best to everyone we touch.”

The Lauder Family values of respect for the individual, uncompromising ethics and integrity, generosity of spirit, and fearless persistence are the guiding principles that drive its actions.

A powerful impact that radiates outward

The Estée Lauder Companies’ work with LGFB has proven to be a powerful unifier for its team and customers alike. For some, like Douilhet, the commitment is deeply personal.

“My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago,” says Douilhet. “As she went through that experience, I saw how much her resilience and strength depended on how much she was supported by the people around her. I’m so thankful to all the people who supported her. It played a major role in her recovery.”

Realizing firsthand the incredible impact that an organization like LGFB can have, Douilhet is now prouder than ever to support the program. The partnership is also a point of pride, strength, and support for Estée Lauder’s team members and customers.

“Through our partnership with LGFB, we aim to bring a positive impact to our customers experiencing cancer treatment by inspiring them to express their individual beauty at a time when they need to most,” says Douilhet. “LGFB also becomes a vital resource for our employees when cancer impacts their own lives or the lives of their loved ones.”
