Cancer can take a lot from a woman – not just her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows, but her sense of self. At LGFB, wellness is a term that goes far beyond medical treatment – we use the broader, psychosocial definition of health that incorporates mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. However, a lot of cancer-care is focused solely around the medical treatment, which is incredibly important, but leaves a widening gap when it comes to this kind of well-being support.
Look Good Feel Better helps close this gap by starting a bigger conversation about the emotional impacts of a diagnosis, but we need help getting the word out. Find us on social media, join the community, become an ambassador, or share your story to spread the word about @lgfbcanada.
One of the best ways to raise awareness about our vital program is through storytelling and testimonials. Have you been to a LGFB workshop? Consider sharing your story with the LGFB community and becoming an ambassador for the program - you can help more women recieve the same support.
The Look Good Feel Better workshop is just the beginning. We encourage caregivers, participants, their friends and families to continue the conversation and connections started at LGFB by joining our online community, Facing Cancer Together. Here, you can find a safe, confidential place to share your thoughts and read inspiring stories about other people in a similar situation. Facing Cancer Together offers support, a cancer information network, resources and tools to help women, and those who care for them, manage the social and emotional effects of cancer.
