Many women with cancer are told that the emotional rollercoaster of losing your hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and having sallow or excruciatingly dry skin is normal. There’s nothing normal about this and we refuse to consider it vanity.
The finer points about hair, makeup and skin care are just the beginning – LGFB is about a whole lot more.
It offers a unique sense of community to women from all walks of life. For a woman experiencing cancer treatment, it’s the opportunity to feel closer to the person you were before facing a diagnosis. It’s a chance to be yourself again.
Wellness is a term that goes far beyond medical treatment. At LGFB, we use the broader, psychosocial definition of health that incorporates mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. It’s not just about the diagnosis. It’s just as much about who you are and how you feel as a person - and a woman.
Through our volunteer team of cosmetic professionals, we offer the finest in skin care, wig selection and makeup techniques in a series of signature steps, each designed to encourage women to look and feel their best.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, the LGFB in-person workshops are temporarily suspended.
We are now pleased to offer two different virtual workshops for women - one for Skincare & Cosmetics and another on Wigs & Hair Alternatives. Feel free to sign up for one or both. Register above in the workshop finder under Online Workshops.
We rely on caregivers like you to share our program with those close to you, so we can help more women with cancer feel like themselves again. Some locations also allow a female caregiver, friend or family to attend the workshop with their loved one, so they can keep offering the kind of support that makes a real difference.Learn more
Many professionals in the medical field are aware of the benefits of the LGFB program and have witnessed first-hand the extraordinary results. This is why most women are referred by their health care team. We encourage more health care practitioners to talk about the benefits of the program with their patients.Learn more
